Fuerteventura – Close by, affordable, and always nice and warm; Fuerteventura is also a great sun destination in winter. Fuerteventura is the second-largest island of the Canary Islands and is located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 100 kilometers off the coast of Morocco. From north to south, it is about a 2-hour drive; there is therefore plenty to see and experience during a Fuerteventura holiday. The landscape is arid and rugged with grand volcanoes, vast plains marked by years of erosion, and beautiful sand dunes formed by blown-over Saharan sand.
Gran Canaria – A holiday Gran Canaria is synonymous with sun, sea, and sand. The island is blessed with long, golden sandy beaches with swaying palm trees. You can swim in pleasantly warm seawater all year round. Gran Canaria has busy and well-known beaches, but also quiet family beaches. The popular beach of Maspalomas is an endless stretch of sand that starts at Playa del Inglés. Real family beaches are San Agustín, the beach of Amadores and the small beach of Puerto de Mogán. A blue flag flies on many beaches indicating that the bathing water is clean and safe to swim in.
La Gomera – The nickname ‘La Isla Redonda’ owes La Gomera (approx. 370 km2) to its round shape. The small island with its lush and green nature is located west of Tenerife. Typical for La Gomera is the Silbo Gomero, a whistling language that has been used by the local herders for more than 2500 years. You will not find sun, sea, and beach tourists on La Gomera. The island is mainly known as a walking island, with countless beautiful and varied walking routes. There is also still a hippie atmosphere: since the 1960s, the pure nature of the island has been loved by the more alternative spirits.
Lanzarote – Lanzarote’s coastline is quiet and virtually unspoiled. This is because the island only contains low-rise buildings; buildings may have a maximum of 4 tiered floors. The most popular seaside resort of Lanzarote is Puerto del Carmen, where you will find a nice boulevard and a very charming old town with a small harbor and tapas bars, in addition to beautiful beaches. Another popular seaside resort is Costa Teguise, a real surf hotspot with a relaxed atmosphere. And in the south of Lanzarote is Playa Blanca, a wonderful seaside resort and protected nature reserve with natural white sandy beaches and a small boulevard.
La Palma – This island is ideal for a breathtaking holiday in the green garden of the Canary archipelago. You can come here all year round for the pleasant climate and beautiful nature. There is a wide range of apartements, hotels, and holiday homes, the so-called casitas. This destination is perfect for hiking and fantastic to discover with a rental car.
Tenerife – Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands and is located about 200 kilometers off the coast of Africa. Like the neighboring islands, Tenerife is of volcanic origin. You can take beautiful walks on the prominent Pico del Teide, the highest mountain in Spain. Admire the fascinating lunar landscape of lava fields and diverse rock formations and enjoy spectacular views. Tenerife has two very different faces. In the arid south, you will find family resorts where you can enjoy the sun, sea, and sand all year round. The green north is like one big garden, with fertile valleys and countless palm and citrus trees. During your holiday in Tenerife, be surprised by breathtaking gorges, volcanoes, vast caves, and beautiful prehistoric rainforests.
